Shift Your Perception of Kuwaiti Cinema: A Kuwait Film Night for Charity

Watch young talented Kuwaitis showcase their productions on 8th and 9thof May from 7pm -9:30 pm @ Kuwait’s last standing old cinema theatre; ‘Cinema Gharnata’ in thus Charity Fundraiser; where all proceeds of this event will go to charities in Kuwait for children with special needs.

Admissions are by ticket only; tickets will not be sold at the door. Doors will open at 6:45pm and will be shut promptly at 7:30pm.

Th’haba Jewelry: For those who are as precious as gold

Th’haba Jewelry is one of the participants taking part in the Pretty Little Things 2 event in Kuwait on April 28th-May 1st 2012, which we featured here.

Established in May 2011, Th’haba Jewelry, which is derived from the Arabic word (Thahab) which is gold, actually is a word used to describe a female that is as precious as gold. According to Abrar Al Ebrahim, “To me, each female is as precious as gold, each female is a ‘th’haba’.”

The line is influenced by Abrar’s fascination with diamonds, and showcases a variety of unique cuts and colors in its designs such as fancy colored diamonds, blue, yellow, green, black, peach and even brown diamonds.

Pieces by Farah: Intricate Home Accessories

Pieces By Farah, is one of the brands that is going to be on show at the Pretty Little Things 2 event in Kuwait at Bayt Sadu from April 28th to May 1st, which we featured in a previous article here.

Pieces by Farah is a step talented Farah Al Humaidhi decided to take in pursuit of creating engaging, functional and unique hand crafted home accessories and furniture pieces. Mixing philosophies and techniques, which derive from modern and classical approaches, is what spurs the final pieces to come out as innovative and unpredictable as they are.

The Rabbit Hole Launches Project Coco: Design A Tweed Jacket Contest

The Rabbit Hole, an Emirati Fashionable Initiative which we featured a while back, have just launched a new project/competition. As they describe it, ”Lady Rabbit has launched Project Coco, as she has been looking for a tweed jacket that is classic yet has a modern twist.She will wear it for the cover of the Rabbit Hole catalogue that will be distributed during the big event.”

There are two rounds to the competition, you first sketch your tweed jacket idea and send it to The.Rabbit.Hole@Hotmail.com then a panel of judges will select the best design out of the submitted sketches.

The designers of the selected sketches will then have to actually sew the jacket themselves. They will then either personally send it to The Rabbit Hole or have it courier delivered to them. A professional panel of judges will be called to select the best out of all of them.

There will be three winners, but only the first winner will get his/her jacket to be worn by the model on the cover of The Rabbit Hole’s catalogue and get a full page in the publication describing the inspiration behind the jacket and a brief about the person or team who designed it.

Contestants have to be GCC nationals, they are not allowed to copy any designer, however they can be inspired from some designs.

An outline of the jacket is attached below to make it easier for the designers to design.

You should print the outline, design it, scan it, and send it back to the.rabbit.hole@hotmail.com

The sketches should be submitted by the 15th of May, 2012. May the best tweed jacket win!
