February is effectively the month of festivities for Kuwait and all types of celebrations are constantly on a roll. If there is one thing that is evident through this month, it is the national pride and love for the country. Loyalty and love for Kuwait are significant traits that have shown to strengthen even through turbulent times.

49 years ago, Kuwait became independent and no longer a British protectorate. 49 years ago, Kuwait was reborn as a country with major strides to take. 49 years later, Kuwait proves to be an unstoppable force. With the grace of God and the passion of the Kuwaiti people, the nation is endlessly persevering for a better Kuwait.

Kuwait is a sum of its people. The generosity, kindness and friendliness of locals and expats alike is what symbolizes Kuwait as a place where people from all walks of life are welcomed. Today, people are celebrating being Kuwaiti, living in Kuwait and to be part of a country that is constantly giving without asking for anything in return.

It comes to no surprise that the people of Kuwait love to celebrate, whether at home, in festivals, or even on the streets. They will cover the city with lights, posters and literally create a visual spectacle. They will raise the flags (and foam cans) and share their excitement, to the dismay of some who get sprayed. The happiness cannot be concealed and the festivities will lift the spirits of many. From the very young to the old, everyone residing in Kuwait is experiencing and celebrating the national pride.

Kuwait deserves to celebrate and Khaleejesque wishes a happy national and liberation day to the people of Kuwait and here is a token of our affection summed up in a beautiful showcase of Kuwait song and dance all the way back from 1979.
