Kurban, the newest Indian movie box office breakthrough, has been much anticipated by the Bollywood crowd; and we must say it does not fail to impress. After the huge success that New York, the movie, made in last June, Producer Karan Johar has managed to surpass everyone’s expectations with Kurban. Starring Karina Kapoor (as Aventika), Saif Ali Khan (as Ehssan), Vivek  Oberoi, (as Reyaaz) and Kiron Kher (as Nesreen), the movie carries a very powerful message carried out by a strong storyline and creative scenarios. The most beautiful thing in the movie, in my opinion, is the fact that the viewer must concentrate in every conversation and scene throughout the film because each one reflects different social, religion, or even politic views.

Kurban shows us how terrorists associate their evil ways with Islam, dismissing the naive Western opinion of terrorism being rooted in this religion; as well as shedding light on how the East and West see that combination through their respective different point of views. The film is like a melting pot of different perspectives; with a bunch of rich debates, points of views, facts and events all intertwining together to make the movie. The movie revolves around a woman who falls in love and unknowingly gets married to a terrorist, which is what happens with Aventika; who then accordingly finds herself thrown into a path of destruction and danger.  Kurban also touches upon the case of the innocents Americans who die under the attacks of terrorists in the US made by large Islamic groups, which was one of the biggest concentrations beside the romantically inclined story line. Yet, on the same time it also focuses on the innocent Muslims who die under the Anti-Terrorist Wars in Afghanistan.

The movie will tamper with your thoughts and heartstrings from beginning till end. Considered a thriller, Kurban will not allow you to even feel slightly bored as you watch scene after scene.

The amazing stunts, lighting, backdrops and music did not slightly overshadow the talented handpicked cast. Kareena Kapoor showed her ability in tragedy and romance in a very influential way after the fall of “Kambakht Ishq” and “Main Aur Mrs Khanna.”  The Director was smart when he placed the roles for Kareena and Saif as we all know that they are a real-life couple and they further proved this in the film where they play a married mixed religion (Muslim and Hindu) couple.

Kurban is simply a movie that mustn’t be missed. I highly recommended you watch it whether you are a Bollywood fan or not. Don’t get tricked by the poster, its totally different. For those who say that it’s a copy of New York, I tell you that you are wrong and it's completely different where each carries a different point of view and style.
