White, red, green and black, the colors of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag flutter high, on lampposts, buildings, cars and in the hands of young children running along the streets of the UAE. The  2nd of December 2009 is the UAE' national day; the day in which the 7 Emirates, Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras-AlKhaima and Um Al Quwain united together to form the present United Arab Emirates.

The national day plays an important role in the UAE national life; it's filled with celebration and activities that gives UAE nationals a chance to show their loyalty to their country and for Expat Residents to participate as a community in these glorious festivities.

In the UAE's capital Abu-Dhabi organizations are on the way to gather a massive congregation of UAE nationals together to sing the UAE National anthem. So if you think you can hold a tune and remember the lyrics why don’t you stop by?

In Dubai, on the other hand, several parades are being organized to commemorate the UAE National Day. There’s a children's and Yola parade scheduled from the 2nd to the 4th of December. Another amazing event would be the Marine parade "Seniar" which will be happening on the 2nd of December; where Boats of different sizes, from traditional Booms and Abras to water taxies and fancy new boats, all traveling side by side along the Khor Dubai flying the UAE flag up high.

Dubai public parks are also taking part in the festivities; they will be hosting many programs and events for children such as band parades and fun zones.

Jumeirah Beach residence in Dubai will be hosting children activities, traditional competitions and a cultural program titled “Ask About Me.” So if you have a question that you are aching to know about the UAE and its culture make sure you visit the JBR on the 4th of December.

From parades, to fun zones, from traditional foods to just plain UAE pride; we welcome everyone to join us on the 2nd of December (and onwards) to celebrate the unification of the UAE.

May our Emirates flourish year after year.
