Probably everyone you know has been or is currently busy strumming on their plastic guitar and perfecting their pinky finger skills thanks to Guitar Hero. Making appearances on several TV shows, movies and equally special ones in many living rooms across the world, Guitar Hero has reached cult status and has given a chance for people with less than stellar musical abilities to rock out. Well, now the same people behind the ingenious rhythm game are back again with a slightly different spin-off.
Conveniently named, DJ Hero is exactly what the title states. In this game, the player is the hero who saves the day spinning and scratching the record away. The game hosts a selection of over 100 different songs from different genres and features more than 80 remixes of two different songs. Famous DJ and mix artists such as DJ Shadow, DJ AM, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Daft Pink and Eminem all contributed to the game's development by creating exclusive new mixes.
So how do you become a DJ Hero? Yes, by obviously having to score points, but that's where the tricky part is. If you don't have any prior experience DJ'ing (which we're sure you all must have), getting acquainted with the turntable is quite intimidating. The player must press the right buttons to activate accented beats, adjust the crossfade between the two songs, "scratch" the turntable in time to marks that scroll on the screen and last but not least, please the virtual crowd with the performance.
You can start a career by yourself as long as you've mastered the skills or opt for the cooperative and competitive multi-player modes. Now if you're loyal to Guitar Hero, or have no coordination skills at all, the game features a mode for selected songs for a DJ player to play alongside another player using the Guitar Hero controller; yes, the guitar!
The remix and song selection is impressive, the possibility of becoming a skilled DJ Hero is attractive, and the fact that another rhythm game is available to enjoy and entertain yourself and others with is priceless!
