Khaleejesque is a thriving lifestyle online magazine that revolves around everything hip and happening in the Arabian Gulf countries when it comes to the continuously evolving cultural scene.
The six countries that make up the GCC – Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar – share closely related culture, history, and values; as well as a similar future. Apart from a couple of blogs and local magazines that do cover this flourishing culture, no one has really attempted to focus on the Gulf.
We aim to do so.
Khaleejesque is essentially a reflection of the Gulf transformed into an online magazine; it’s a one click portal that features everything there is to know about the Gulf. We, the Khaleejesque team, aim to cover the latest in regional happenings, feature interesting people and initiatives and share inspiring stories that are waiting to be told.
What does “Khaleejesque” mean?
A twist to the word gulf in Arabic “Khaleej” and a play on words with the suffix “esque”; we’re the Gulf answer to Arabesque, but instead we are Khaleejesque.
They still didn’t link us with a railway system and a Gulf-specific currency seems to be pending ever since we can remember, but one thing’s for sure, Khaleejesque will keep locals and curious international readers all connected and in the know. God bless the Internet.
The Team Members
Noufa Al-Sabah, Editor-in-Chief & Co-Founder
A Business major with a knack for words as opposed to numbers, Noufa – Finance and Management Graduate from the American University of Kuwait – found herself slowly swaying into the world of Mass Communication. A once avid blogger (a passion that acted as a stepping stone to the path of founding Khaleejesque) with an eclectic perspective on life, Noufa lusts over the idea of just quitting everything and becoming a travel writer (perhaps just traveling not so much writing). Ask her to describe her self, and you are bound to get the following answer, “I’m all over the place!” (noufa -at- khaleejesque.com)
Fouz Al-Sabah, Creative Director & Co-Founder
Fouz has recently completed her Master’s Degree in Cultural and Creative Industries at King’s College London. A creative person by nature and enthusiastic by default, she is always up for a challenge in the workplace; which explains why she constantly bombards the team with unusual, yet innovative, ideas. She loves almost anything that has to do with design, visual creativity and especially enjoys photography, graphic design and film. Fouz is a self-professed YouTube addict, social media enthusiast and believes that the Internet is the ultimate educational tool. (fouz -at- khaleejesque.com)
Alya N. Al-Othman, Features Editor
Alya received her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Kuwait University. Although studying and working in the business field was an eye-opening and mind-broadening experience, she never veered away from indulging in the creative arts. She loves art and design and has always been an avid reader and writer. She cannot remember a time when her eyes weren’t glued to a book. When she’s not reading or writing, you can find her deeply engrossed in the kitchen, whipping up delectable (and sometimes not-so delectable) concoctions. “My dream is to open up a bakery one day. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do!” (alya -at- khaleejesque.com)

Khaled Y. Al-Bannay, Accounts Manager
A graduate of the American University of Kuwait, Khaled received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Management. He is a careful planner, organizer and accounts manager. He also describes himself as “multi-talented” as he believes that he is an artist, debater, movie critic, food critic, piano player, researcher, and the list goes on. Khaled loves traveling, world news, web browsing and movies of all kinds. His favorite thing to say is “If you are not qualified enough, never debate or judge my point of views and vice versa”.
