The Mall of the World: Dubai Unveils Plans for the First Temperature Controlled City
You can leave it to Dubai to push the envelope and aim to create larger than life projects. Dubai Holding announced the Mall of the World project, which is going to be the world’s largest mall. Dubbed as “a city within a city”, it is going to be 48 million square feet that includes the world’s largest mall (8 million square feet), 100 hotels and apartment buildings, an indoor family theme park, a cultural district which includes a theatre district constructed similarly to New York’s Broadway, ‘The Celebration Walk” like that in Barcelona, and shopping streets similer to Oxford Street London. It also has an events center, and a wellness district for medical tourism. Not only that, but a tram system is going to be implemented within a 7-km-long retail district. The whole city is going to be covered, as well as temperature controlled during the summer, and opened up during the winter.
The construction of the Mall of the World will be finished in time for the 2020 Expo in Dubai, UAE.
