Bahraini label Noon By Noor presented their Spring/Summer 2013 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York for the first time on Friday September 7th, 2012 amidst the wonderful chaos that is New York Fashion Week. The brand debuted their label on an international level for the first time, alongside well-known designers like Alexander Wang, Monique Lhuillier and Suno.
The show’s attendees included editors, journalists, international buyers and celebrities including fashion it-girl Olivia Palermo and actress India de Beaufort (who were both wearing Noon By Noor), Nicky Hilton, Cory Kennedy, and many more. Also in attendance at the show was photographer and fashion blogger, Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist.
For their Spring/Summer 2013 collection, the designers Sheikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Sheikha Haya Mohammed Al Khalifa blended “evening silhouettes with daytime tailoring,” and maintained their signature feminine quality in each look in the collection.
The collection was light and airy, with minimalist designs set in beautiful and luxurious fabrics. While some looks oozed fluidity, others were more tailored and structured. The designers used unexpected textiles in place of more conventional ones for items such as t-shirts and shorts. Biker jackets came in brocade, t-shirts were made using chiffon, and shorts came in a bronze metallic material.
When it came to eveningwear, the gowns floated on the runway courtesy of lots of cascading silk chiffon in beautiful colors like coral and taupe.
Soon after the show, Noon By Noor was trending worldwide on Twitter. “The show went smoothly and it was amazing to see the final result after so much hard work and dedication,” said Sheikha Noor.
“After receiving such positive feedback from the show, we are now even more determined to work harder and take the brand to higher levels”, added Sheikha Haya.
