Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) announced that it will open a family focused exhibition titled Eco Future, which explores the human race’s ability to survive in a changing planet. The exhibition will open on 27th of September 2012 at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, and will run for a year.
Eco Future will be an interactive and educational exhibition where visitors will explore some of the most vital issues facing humans today such as climate change, sustainability, healthy living, the environment and global resources. They will explore the different ways and lifestyle choices Abu Dhabi residents must make in order to live in the fast developing city in 20 to 40 years time.
The exhibition will be divided into six sections: Drinking, Eating, Enjoying, Moving, Building and Future City. Visitors will be guided through the exhibition by four characters: Yas, Moza, Ali and Sara. In the first part of the interactive exhibition, the visitors will explore new places to find water for a future invented city. In the second part, they will eat with other visitors and trade food for dinner. In the third part, “Enjoying,” they will explore methods of shopping in the future. In “Moving,” they will discover new automotive technologies and in “Building,” they will design and build their future Abu Dhabi homes. In the final part of the exhibition, “Future City,” the result of the decisions made by the participants will be revealed.
Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General of TCA Abu Dhabi said, “Eco Future is inspired by the future plans and projects of Abu Dhabi, some of which are already underway. Just as the decisions made by people now, impact the future of the capital, visitors will learn how different choices based on our priorities can have major effects on tomorrow’s world. One of TCA Abu Dhabi’s goals is to be a leading and sustainable tourism destination so we open this exhibition to coincide with United Nations’ World Tourism Day.”
Eco Future is presented by TCA Abu Dhabi in close collaboration with Masdar, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Urban Planning Council, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, Emirates Wildlife Society and Tourism Development & Investment Company.
